NEW:
Rotstein and Don Amour attended the Leonie Bramall clinic held at Jenny Gehrke's training facility in Moggill, Brisbane 1 - 3 November. One word for the clinic - AMAZING ! ___________________________________________________ 2008 Australian Dressage Championships held at the Sydney Olympic venue have been and gone! As always a very enjoyable experience - Rotstein competed in the Elementary where he finished 8th Overall. As to be expected - confilcting scores however Rotstein went like a legend - I could not be happier with his efforts.
_______________________________________________ A special thank you to Tracy Round for offering me the ride on her FEI horse Beluga. I hope we can do you proud! _______________________________________________ Congratulations to David Unwin on the purchase of Leadburn Carrington. We wish you much joy and success with him!
Leadburn Don Bre-Ayr and his new owner Rhiannon Garrett. Rhiannon tells me Don has settled in very well, and will start his Official Competition campaign in September. Good Luck Rhiannon . . . !
The For Sale page has had some changes. Be sure to check it out! The Festival of Dressage once again has been and gone. What a great event this was! From excellent shopping to great demonstrations. And not just for the beginner. Be sure to mark your 2009 Diary for this event next year! Check out Bernie Saunders excellent Cyberhorse report. Rotstein dazzled the spectators in the Festival's stallion parade . . .
Congratulations to Rhiannon Garrett on the purchase of Leadburn Don Bre-Ayr. We wish you much success and happiness with Don in the future! The Festival of Dressage is fast approaching. This is going to be a great event, for any Dressage enthusiast. Joern Kubelke will be there doing a Masterclass, along with all the very capable Qld State Dressage Squad giving demonstrations throughout the day. Although Rotstein and I are not yet a part of the Qld Dressage Squad, we will be giving a demonstration on the Elementary test, and he will also be appearing in the Stallion Parade, plus their is a service to Rotstein going in the Silent Auction. Check out the website for more info and whats on. A very successful outing on the 25th May for us at the 2008 Toowoomba Dressage Championships. Rotstein finished with a 1st and 2nd in the Elementary to take out Reserve Champion. Another outing on 9 April with Leadburn Rotstein, and my hidden package Leadburn Don Amour (aka Denzel). Rotstein competed in the Elementary, ending up in =3rd place on 67.2%, with the winner on 68.9%. Denzel has had limited outings, and this is going to be his first big year out. He competed in the Prelim, to finish 2nd with 74%. A successful day out, looking forward now to the Toowoomba Dressage Two Star Championships in May. My sponsor Equitec Products now have a website up and running. Be sure to check it out at: www.equitec.com.au REALLY BIG UPDATE 28 March 2008: So much now has happened all at once. It seems we are all on the move again, and we can return to some form of normality once again! YEAH . . . Where do I start with the Updates . . . ? Leadburn Rosentein and her partner Kirri Woods have taken the EI break in their stride, and continued on with their training, coming out explosiviely in 2008. Kirri and Rosie attempted their first Elementary at Cooloola Official and Associate Dressage Competition on 9th March. They won with a great first time score of 65.15%. Kirri mentioned, "after analysing her video later that night, there is plenty of room for improvement." She also mentioned that the judge made a point of coming up to her after the event and commending her on what a great job she is doing with her special horse . . . Keep it coming Kirri!
Leadburn Rotstein had his first outing and first attempt at a new level on 16 March at Toowoomba in the Unofficial Medium. We have now blown the cob webs out of the engine - and we are looking forward to our next outing, where I hope he will put both of his best feet forward, rather than only one as he did at Toowoomba. A couple of inattentive moments, proving to be very costly to the overall picture we displayed, but still managing to pull through with a win - and a score that can well and truly be improved on. I must admit I was quite tentative about heading out, for fear of EI breaking out again. However I think I can put my optimistic cap on, and be confident we will return to life as normal!
Leadburn Sundance Kid & Leadburn Risquae have now been weaned. They are 2 very special commodities, and I am really looking forward to having them under saddle in a few years time. We have also purchased another broodmare, Glencoe Aamirates (aka Scarlett), our gentle giant! Scarlett is the mother of many well performing horses, including Glencoe Catwalk, owned by Nicole Tough. Scarlett has successfully gone in foal to our very own Leadburn Rotstein. Her foal will be due early December. Our 2nd and final foal to be born for 2008 / 2009 season, will be from Greengates Allira (Lil), owned by Carolyn Emmerson. Carolyn knows how much we 'love' Lil, and kindly offered her to us for the season while she endures work commitments. Lil was also bred to Leadburn Rotstein, and her foal will be due early February 2009. Congratulations to: Justin McNamara on the arrival of another colt "Forestholme Ravenstein" (black), a play mate for his outstanding bay colt, "Forestholme Reggae". Justin mentioned he will be returning the mother of Reggae "Your Elegance" back to Rotstein in the 2008 breeding season.
Other Tid Bits: Rotstein took out the 2007 Elementary Horse of the Year with the Toowoomba Dressage Group. We also won Best Presented Combination for 2007. Mottee Park Roulette (aka Roxi) Nicole Tough's (not so) little - bundle of joy, has been weaned, and her Mum Glencoe Catwalk has returned to life as the outstanding dressage horse that she was. We are looking forward to seeing Roxi under saddle.
More News to come . . . Stay tuned CONGRATULATIONS: Andrea Martin on the arrival of a black colt born on Christmas Day (pics to come). Emmeline Eastwell on the arrival of a black filly "Rotillie" Rotillie - 2 1/2 weeks:
Late News: Better late than never . . . The arrival of our 2nd and final foal of the season. Leadburn Risquae. A full sister to Leadburn Rotstein and Leadburn Rosentein.
Pics of our Sunny Boy colt
Our New Arrival - "Fantasie" has produced us with a lovely colt from Sunny Boy. Born 24/10/07 at 1.00 am. Both are well. Influenza Outbreak - The EI virus has hit our area. At this stage the virus is approximately 10 - 15 kms from our property. We are all still sitting very tight. Congratulations - Nicole Tough ( Colin & Mitch too . . .) and proud Mum Glencoe Catwalk on the safe arrival of your beautiful Rotstein filly - Roxi, born 01/09/07.
Equine Influenza Outbreak - I am extremely glad to inform that it seems this nasty virus has not caught up with any of my precious stock, be it Clients horses, my horses, or our broodmares. My Coach Nicole Tough ws not so lucky, getting caught in the middle of the lockdown whilst performing a Grand Prix Pas De Deux Display with Nicole Magoffin at the Warwick Three Star event. If anyone's equine friend has been struck with this virus (or any cough or cold) please contact Ken Ford at Equitech for products which may help reduce the effects and increase recovery time. Ken can be contacted on 07 3268 4445. Qld Festival of Dressage has been and gone . . . What a great event!! I am proud to say I was involved. And I would like to thank the Organising Committe for allowing me to partake in the Stallion display with Rotstein. Although he was a little crowd shy. I was given another opportunity to display myself and Rotstein in the "What Judges are looking for Demonstration", and then shared my knowledge and experience in "Ringcraft" with the audience. Looking forward to another event in 2008. Sponsorship agreements - Hyfeed - Health Food for Horses. For all your Performance horse and Broodmare feeds. Equitech Performance Products - The natural way to keep your horse healthy Inside and Out. I would like to thank both companies for their support. Leadburn Rotstein - Competed at Park Ridge Official One Star, scoring an all time high of 75.6% in the Novice, finishing 1st and 66% In the Elementary, finishing 2nd. Leadburn Don Bre-Ayr - First Official Outing, Toowoomba Dressage Championships incorporating the CDI, Friday 25th May 2007. He competed at Preliminary level, with a 2nd and 3rd placing, and was just pipped for Reserve Champion. His scores were 68.2% and 67.4%. "I was very pleased with the way he performed. I believe we still have much more room for improvement". The next proposed outing for Don is the Brenda Whitmann Challenge on the 14th & 15th July. Leadburn Rotstein - Had another successful outing at the CDI recently also. He competed Novice / Elementary with this being his 2nd competition at Elementary level. He had a 2nd and 5th in the Novice and 2nd and 4th in the Elementary. His scores ranged from 67% - 70.8%. Unfortunatley I started to feel the exhaustion of 6 tests and forgot to do 2 movements in my last Elementary test, proving costly. The horse went super, and I was the one to make the mistakes. Boy am I kicking myself! Our next outing is a One Star at Park Ridge - Brisbane on 10th June. Rotstein will be competing Novice / Elementary. Hudson - Our precious Jack Russell was nominated in the Jack Russell race to be held in the Evening of the Saturnday night program at the CDI. Unfortunately at the trials the evening before Hudson came under attack from a fellow competitor, receiving a nasty wound which required stitches. A special thanks to Anita Scampton and Mandy Finnimore for attending to Hudsons wound. Hudson is well and truly on the mend, and sure did make the most out of the attention he received from everybody over the course of the weekend. Leadburn Rotstein - Had his first start at Elementary at Nambour One Star. A couple of mistakes proving costly, finishing with 4th place on 64%. He regained his composure for a win in the Novice on 69%!
Leadburn Rotstein - Attended the Joern Kubelke clinic 29 & 30th March. Joern was very impressed with his likeness to his sire and his acceptance of the training method we adopted for the duration of the clinic.
Leadburn Don Bre-Ayr - Is proving to be a force to be reckoned with, continuing to blaze the arena with glory, scoring 69 & 73%. Yet to compete Officially - He can be seen at the CDI - Toowoomba Dressage Championships Friday 25 May for his first Official Outing at Preliminary level. |
