Welcome to the home of Amy Zeller and Leadburn Lodge Warmblood Stud. We are located in the heart of the Darling Downs, 20 mins from the centre of Toowoomba and 2 hours from Brisbane, Queensland - Australia. Our aim:- To breed quality not quantity whilst placing an extremely high emphasis on temperament and trainability. All of the foals bred at Leadburn Lodge are meticulously handled from birth through to weaning and breaking in age. Leadburn
Lodge was started in the early 80's by my parents Col & Annette Zeller
as a Palomino & Thoroughbred stud. However at the start of my dressage
career, focus then moved to Performance Horses and specific breeding for
Dressage. Prior to the start of My dressage career, I had been through many facets of the Equestrian Industry. I began nagging my parents for a horse at the age of 5 (after my parents tried to make me take Piano lessons). I was fortunate to have a teacher aid at my Primary School that loved horses just as much as me. She had a little show pony called "Richard" a Shetland Pony. Mrs Jillett was kind enough to sneak me home to her place for rides on Richard after school. This is when my parents realised, this was more than a "fad". . .
My constant nagging got the better of my parents, (it only took a year!) and I got my first horse - "Star" a 12hh gymkhana / sporting pony when I was 6. "Star" lived to the ripe old age of 21, and was instrumental in bringing home a bagful of ribbons without fail at every gymkhana we went to.
After enough galloping around bending poles and barrells, I escalated to "Its Anything" (aka Rex) a 16.2hh thoroughbred, purchased from Guy Creighton. Rex and I had numerous Interschool wins and placings in Combined Training. At this stage I was "dead against" competing solely in dressage, until some advice from a fellow non jumping competitor to take Dressage lessons to help my Showjumping has lead me on the path I'm on today . . . .
My first solely Dressage horse was Candour's Son, who was originally purchased as a ShowJumper. Candour's Son and I made it to the QLD Young Riders Squad in 1998. He was sold in 1999 and has since taken 2 more riders to the Qld Young Riders squad.
After Candour's Son Roshelly took the limelight and helped to put Me where I am today!
I shouldn't forget to mention the everso trainable and gentleman like "Immenhof Lux", who was the 3rd horse I had trained through to Elementary / Medium until selling him in 2006. We also managed to steer ourselves onto the Qld Dressage Squad in 2005 & 2006.
The path has been very hilly and rocky, but one thing I enjoy most about the sport of Dressage, is you never stop improving and learning. Thankfully the good times outweigh the bad and frustrating times, which I think is what keeps me humble, and makes me thankful that I am where I am today! |
