Sire
- Fourwinds Faschingschwank
Dam
- Fourwinds Martha III
Marianne has got lovely sturdy 'old fashioned' breeding in her
heritage. On her sire side she has a double cross of Falkland
& Monopol, whilst carrying the strong jeans of Daktylus and
also Falkland on her Dam side.
Marianne
is very consistent with her foals, always throwing looks and temperament.
How
we came across Marianne, is a tale in itself, and it all started
with the purchase of a 2 year old colt - Falklands Sunburst -
aka Sunny.
Devastatingly
we lost Sunny, due to an internal complication at the time of
gelding. Then a gentleman by the name of William "Bill"
Doherty came into our lives, and offered us our condolences, but
advised us there is light at the end of the tunnel - as he was
the one that bred Sunny, and actually still had his mother in
his paddock at home . . . Marianne. So we decided to borrow the
mare for a season and breed a full brother or sister to Sunny.
That season Sunny's father was injured, and wasn't available for
breeding, so we decided to put Marianne in foal to the beautiful
new kid on the block - Anamour. We were very lucky to get a lovely
black filly, so as a good will gesture to Bill, we decided we
would return Marianne in foal, and bred her to Medallion, and
from there she would return back to Bill's property.
Marianne
never made it back to Bill's and she foaled at Leadburn Lodge,
so we were scratching our heads, O.K., who owns this foal? To
save any issues, we purchased Marianne from Bill, and decided
- now its time to get into this Frozen Semen business . . Our
first pic, after advice we received whilst being at the WEG in
1998, was the "R" line. So we chose Rubenstein. As our
luck would have it, Rubenstein had only just passed away, and
there was no semen available. We were advised, don't despair,
there is a great new son of Rubenstein, taking the world by storm
- called "Rotspon". Pronounced (Ort Spon) a german wine.
Taking
a gamble - and being the very first people in Australia to use
the semen, we enlisted the help of Max Wilson of Equivet
Australia . Max gave glowing reports about the semen, and
first try Marianne was positive tested in foal to Rotspon. Along
came Rotstein . . . So we look back now, and while we are still
devastated that we lost our precious "Sunny", how could
anyone be disappointed with what we were replaced with? ? ?
We
have since bred another foal, by Rotspon - 'Leadburn Rosentein'
and Northern Classic - 'Leadburn Classique'.
All
of Marianne's foals prove to be outstanding conformed and presented
horses, also showing to have excellent temperaments.
Her
son and Stallion at stud Leadburn Rotstein is her highest performing
foal at this stage, however full sister to Rotstein, Rosentein,
is well and truly making her name in the dressage world too .
. .
We
are eagerly awaiting our 3rd foal by Rotspon, due Early November
2007.
